Our office is experiencing a failing phone system. This is creating longer wait times for our patients, busy signals, and an inability to connect with our office staff. Please click the patient portal to create an account if you don’t already have one. This will allow you to get in touch with our staff and resolve your concerns and requests more quickly.
Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedures mean that your doctor with The Group for Women can perform the recommended procedure through tiny incisions instead of one large opening. The doctor passes a long, thin tube through the incision. The tube has a miniature camera attached at the end, called an endoscope. Tubes attached to small instruments are passed through the other openings. By maneuvering instruments, your doctor is able to investigate and see the area in question and remove or repair whatever is wrong.
Why is Minimally Invasive Surgery a good alternative? When your doctor can perform your surgery with smaller incisions, you have a better chance of recovering quicker with less discomfort than conventional surgery. Less tissue is affected with less scarring.
When indicated, your doctor will make the choice and recommend that your surgery is performed using this Minimally Invasive technique. In some cases, your doctor may not be able to see everything and may have to use a larger incision. Your doctor will explain all of this and more before your surgery. Most Minimally Invasive Surgeries are performed as out-patient, so you can go home the same day to recuperate. Some surgeries, however, may require you to stay overnight in the hospital.
